Meeting other people with whom you connect, and who get what you’re into, is such an incredible feeling. It can happen in lots of ways, and I am constantly grateful that Whipstitch has played even a small role in getting people plugged into the online sewing community, or introduced in person to really cool folks like you.
Sewcials
A Whipstitch Sewcial is a free event held to offer a chance for Atlanta locals to meet up, hang out, and talk sewing. Most Sewcials involve hand sewing at a coffee shop. Others are held at local area attractions and give you an opportunity to take advantage of your membership card–spots like the Botanical Garden, the Atlanta Zoo, or Fernbank Museum. Learn more about Sewcials here and RSVP for upcoming dates!
The Sewing Buddy Project
Started in 2010, the Sewing Buddy Project is a web-based pen pal project that connects stitchers from around the globe with one special person for encouragement, motivation, accountability and friendship. Registration opens once each year, in January, but you can follow along with the events and excitement through the Flickr group or sign up for next year’s group!
Retreats
There are so many great sewing retreats to choose from these days, all over the US. Whipstitch retreats began back in 2008 and have always featured a beautiful location, a relaxed atmosphere, and warm sewing guidance. Upcoming retreats will be posted here, and announced via newsletter–be sure to sign up if you haven’t already!
