Autumn Sewing Retreat in the North Georgia Mountains

I am over the MOON with excitement to announce our newest venture: a fall sewing retreat at an inn in the North Georgia mountains! Long strolls through the autumn leaves, cool breezes, a sweet bed-and-breakfast on a secluded seventeen acres, and the run of the place as we sew, sew, sew!

The Glen-Ella Springs Inn is located in Clarkesville, about 90 minutes north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Appalachians. It is the most beautiful place, tucked away on its own estate, and frequently booked for weddings and events. It has received piles of awards as a top place to stay in the Blue Ridge, and is frequently noted as one of the best dining establishments in all of Georgia–I mean, really good food. The setting is idyllic, and the staff are extraordinarily lovely. I’ve managed to snag it for a full weekend in October, the perfect time in this part of the world to experience the autumn weather and the amazing colors of the trees in the Georgia mountains.

We’ll all meet at the Inn on Friday by 4 p.m., and enjoy the hospitality of the amazing staff until Sunday after lunch. Registration includes a double-occupancy room; ALL meals, snacks and continuous beverage service; a picnic hike to the falls on Saturday (or you can drive and meet us there, if you’d prefer); nearly 20 hours of sewing workshops; and yummy goodies and surprises throughout the weekend!

Dates: Friday, October 16-Sunday, October 18, 2009
Capacity: We have room at the Inn for 12 stitchers; all rooms are double occupancy
Skill level: ALL skill levels welcome! We won’t be offering our Intro Sewing series this weekend, but we’ll have plenty of workshops available that will suit you no matter how much experience you have.
Cost: $495 before August 14; $535 August 15-October 10 (or when spaces are full)

This will be the first ever location workshop Whipstitch has done, and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about it. I enjoy our monthly Sewing Circle, Sip-and-Stitch, more than I can say, and have met SUCH wonderful people there. I’m looking forward to enjoying this beautiful location and lots and lots of sewing with all of you!

I’m currently working on a downloadable registration form. Until then, please email me if you’d like to go ahead and snag one of the 12 spots we have available:
deborah (at) whipstitchfabrics (dot!) com

And stay tuned in the coming weeks to hear how you could compete to WIN a free spot! You heard me: COMPETE. Details coming in early August!

Dude, I SO want to come to this-if not to make everyone feel better about their own sewing skills, then maybe just for the continuous beverage service-I'll assume we're talking sweet tea?

Have you decided what types of workshops will be offered for this event?
