Convo w my husband

Me: I think after the New Year, I’m going to start running again. You know, like train for a 5k or something.

Him: (snort) (snicker) (cough)

Me: Um, why is that funny, exactly?

Him: Well, honey, I mean, no one trains for a 5k. That’s like saying, “I’m training so I can pick up this jug of milk.” It’s not very far. Like, a block.

Me:

Him: Seriously. No one should have to train for a 5k.

Me:

Him: I mean, Yay! You’re awesome! Woot!

Me:

Him: Love you.

Me:

Ed. Note: My husband is tremendously supportive in all things. Like the rest of us, though, occasionally he speaks before the filters kick in. Hoping the stress of the holidays isn’t keeping any of us from feeling the love that the season brings!

huh, I had the exact opposite convo w/my hubby about a month ago – him: "we could run a marathon together" me: *stunned silence then hysterical laughter*

But good for you, I think a 5K is totally manageable – there is the couch to 5K program out on the internets, you could look into doing that 🙂

I think any sort of goal setting is good motivation to overcome hurdles! I have been training for a sprint triathlon but my partner got injured so I kind of lost motivation and now I'm just working towards a half marathon. I started with 5ks and now I run 5ks everyday:)

As someone with three kids, a psycho puppy (11 year old Beagle/Bluetick mix) that refuses to run on leash, and a creative mind that can think of 87 reasons for me NOT to go for that run/walk/pant, I know it's not so much the training for the race, it's building a healthy habit into your daily life. I'm sure your honey will want to support you – the non runners guide to running a marathon has great beginning steps. (Michael – About 10 dollars at a local book store- just trying to help… )

My husband gets up before the sun to go run 8-10 miles every day. For fun. Despite this weird character flaw and consistent forgetfulness that 8-10 miles is WHY WE HAVE A CAR, I love him anyway.

Thanks! I’m still working out the kinks (with my husband, or the blog?? Ha!) and trying to get it to look the way I want it to look. Am thinking of buying myself a blog redesign as a last-minute gift! But it’s got some new functions, and everyone tells me once I get used to it I’ll love it way more than Blogger. Will let you know how it goes!
      Merry Christmas to all y’all!
