Easter is absolutely my favorite holiday, and the weather this year was so insanely gorgeous that I didn’t want to pass up the chance to stitch a few memories for our family:
For our boy: the OverMost in the long version, using a fabulous herringbone linen I’ve been hoarding. He also got a sweet little boy’s shirt and the delicious bow tie I discovered through Dana’s blog during Boy Month.
For our middle child: the Pinafore (the next pattern to be released from Whipstitch–stay tuned!). I considered a dress from the same stripe as O’s tie, but was worried about the matchy-matchy going overboard, so stuck with a blue/green theme, instead.
For our eldest, something simple that she’d actually wear: a shift to wear over leggings, in the same plaid as our youngest (the only one in the family she’ll deign to match).
For me, I strongly considered whipping up a new pencil skirt, but had a tough time justifying it when I only have four weeks to go, and baskets needed filling. So, a simple linen dress from pregnancy #2 came off the bench, sticking with the color theme.
My husband has so much clothing that for this holiday, I let him off the hook. I did make him a quick pocket square out of our boy’s stripe, and resisted the urge to give him a daddy-sized bow tie.
A LOT of sewing, but how many years will we have for a photo op like this one? You know, where it takes sixteen shots to get ONE where no one is actively screaming or attempting to escape the frame? Perhaps if we’d thought to take it earlier, before the sugar and the excitement….
Hope all of you had a Happy Easter!

April 7, 2010 at 8:01 pmLove the family photos. You are a beautiful group! The last one looks like my typical Xmas card photo. It’s just not a holiday if no one is screaming.
Can’t wait to see the pinafore pattern — that is DARLING.
