After writing about my great-grandmother’s quilt and asking your advice on restoring it, Melissa commented and suggested having some guest posts about “well-loved, made-more-than-forty-years-ago quilts.” Not only do I think that’s a fantastic idea, but it’ll give me a chance to feature some of your quilts while I move my family out of our house and into a rental! We’re thrilled to have our house under contract, but on Monday when our broker moved the closing up by three weeks and told us that instead of moving out mid-July we would need to be out by June 24–and the ONLY box I’ve packed so far is the one you see above–I might have had a Moment. Of panic.
So, two birds with one stone! I’m aching to see some other vintage/antique quilts and how well they’ve fared over the decades, and you’ll be helping me out big-time by guest posting here on Whipstitch while I frantically pack our household, load it on a truck, and throw it all into a rental house the day before we’re set to go on the vacation we planned when we didn’t know we were going to sell the house (the first non-work-related trip we’ve taken in SIX years, so no way are we going to cancel–moving or no moving!).
If this post made any sense to you, bless you. Send me a quick note and a photo of your antique or vintage quilt by emailing deborah AT whipstitchfabrics DOT com. I’ll choose the ones I love the very bestest and invite you to share your quilt here on the blog! Looking forward to seeing all the treasures you have in your linen closets. And kind of wondering what I’m about to find in mine…
Please send over your submissions by June 20 so I’ll have time to get these posts together before the entire house explodes. Thanks!
