Come on down to the shop this Saturday, November 17, from 1 to 4 pm for our second annual Live Quilting Event!
For most of us, when we begin quilting, we haven’t had the privilege of watching someone else do the actual QUILTING. We might be able to figure out the patchwork, and choosing fabric gets to be fun and playful, but knowing how to select and then sew the quilting stitches on a quilt can seem like foreign territory. When you learn to drive, you’ve probably seen someone operate a motor vehicle for better than 1000 hours, but when you sit down to quilt a project, it might be the actual very first time you’ve ever been in the presence of live quilting! That’s where this event comes in: a chance to watch experienced quilters baste and quilt larger projects on their home sewing machines, answer your questions, demonstrate techniques, and hang out while you observe.
It all begins at 1 pm THIS Saturday, November 17. We’ll have straight-line quilting with a walking foot, free-motion quilting and hand quilting demonstrations: for three hours, our quilters will be working on thier projects and you’ll have a front row seat! Bring a snack and move in for a bit, or just drop by in your spare time while the kiddos nap. Take photos, ask questions, make comments, and get inspired! While you’re there, remember that ALL our remaining fabric inventory is still 40% off–so you can take something lovely home and get started right away, while the inspiration is still fresh.

November 16, 2012 at 2:27 pmThat sounds AMAZING… and, unfortunately, a long way from Kansas City. 🙂 I’m just starting to dip my toe into quilting, and I love the idea of being able to just sit and watch others work!
