Conversation with my husband, over freshly washed fabric.
Me: So, tell me which one of these you want to have for your pajama pants this Christmas.
Him: Wait, are we all getting pants?
Me: Yes, we’re all getting matching Christmas PJs, and we’re all going to wear them at the same time and be happy. But you get to pick which fabric you like for yours.
Him:
Me:
Him: Pants, or pants and shirt?
Me: Do you want the top, or just the pants?
Him: I think I’ll be OK with just the pants.
Me:
Him: I like this one. (holds up folded, pre-washed fabric)
Me: Are you sure? You don’t want the flannel version? Because it comes in flannel, too.
Him: No, this one.
Me: Really? Because they’re for Christmas.
Him: This one. I don’t need more flannel. All my other pajama pants are flannel, and I need some I can wear the rest of the year.
Me: But they have the Grinch all over them.
Him: I don’t understand your point.
Stay tuned, y’all. Holiday sewing is about to commence.

September 8, 2011 at 4:41 pmLOL. My husband already has the flannel Grinch pajama pants, and rightly earned them, if I don’t say so myself. However, his are el cheapo Target brand, not lovingly constructed by yours truly.
On the other hand, he does have some me-made, groovy, mushroom-trippin’ lion-flower fleece PJ bottoms with MATCHING FLANNEL PILLOWCASES I kid you not. Bedtime is the 60s all over again.

September 8, 2011 at 5:14 pmHAHA! My husband also has the el cheapo target Grinch flannel pants. I finally sewed something for him this year – a quilt top (Not quilted yet) – but I don’t think I would have the guts to make clothes for him. He is SUPER picky!

September 9, 2011 at 7:59 amThat’s fantastic!I I have to get through Halloween costumes before I can start Christmas, but I was excited that my hubby picked/wanted to do a family theme of Robin Hood for Halloween…later he told me it’s because he wanted to wear a cape!

September 11, 2011 at 1:40 amThis is great! Sounds like a conversation that may or may not have had with my husband. Thanks for the laugh and good luck with those ‘year round’ Grinch jammies! 😉

September 12, 2011 at 6:04 pmMy husband has a Grinchy smile and had the nickname “Grinch” in college. There’s been a lot more Grinch items on the market lately than in years past (the Grinch from the Grinch movie doesn’t count!)
Yep, Halloween costumes come first. I have three kids and always wanted to dress them up as the Three Musketeers. They’re too big now and won’t go for it. But you get to wear knee boots AND a cape AND carry a sword AND have a fantastic hat. What’s not to love?

September 28, 2011 at 8:58 pmI read this post back when you wrote it, and I thought it was hilarious, mainly because it is such a good example of a [my] husband. That last line, “I don’t understand your point” makes me laugh… Anyway, I was talking to my sister today about maybe making her some pajama pants this Christmas and I immediately thought of this post. We both laughed together. Husbands… Thanks for the post!
