I saw so, so much to love at Quilt Market: fabulous new cotton prints, new patterns, new people. It really was a great chance to connect with other folks in the industry, to share ideas, to get inspired. I loved hanging out with Kim of True Up and meeting organic fabric designers Michelle from Cloud9 and Jan from Daisie Janie–so exciting to think and talk about the new directions coming about for fabric in the very near, tangible future! But the bestest, most exciting this I saw while I was there was something I was expecting to see: the new collection for Kokka by Atlanta local, Melody Miller!
It’s called Ruby Star Rising, and it’s fabulous. FAB. YOU. LUSS.
It’s all on that cotton/linen blend that Kokka does to perfection, and the feel is luxurious and yumtastic.
I mean, for reals: Viewmaster reels? cameos of lovely ladies? transistor radios? There is SO much here to love.
If you needed to hear more about how cool Melody is, the samples you see here were stitched ON SITE at Quilt Market (with some help)–sample yardage was late in arriving, and she had to make a mad scramble to get it all done in time to display in the booth. Amazing!
Of all towns in the US, Melody’s hometown should certainly represent. Buying this entire line was an easy, easy decision–we’ll have all 15 bolts in stock in just a very few weeks! Just in time to make all your retro-holiday dreams come true.

November 4, 2010 at 11:40 amOh my gosh. That is AWESOME fabric. I am so in love with the Kokka linen/cotton blends and these vintage designs are incredible. And how thrilling that these are from a local artist.
When you get this in I will be in your shop touching it and buying it!

After all our talking, I couldn’t remember if you bought them or were going to buy them the next day! My brain is still a little cloudy from the whole event!! I love Melody’s designs ~ those colors are yum-E!

November 11, 2010 at 7:35 pmI grabbed some from two different vendors and spent entirely too much money–but I would’ve regretted it if I hadn’t, and they’re really, really special. Will post photos when I finally find the perfect project and begin to use them!
