Too Fat to Fly South

Literally.

Found this little fella outside the bathroom window the other morning as flurries were circling overhead.  Tried desperately to snap a shot of him with a single flake scooting past, but never did–only ended up with a zillion pictures that look more or less like this:

Except then I wanted to play with my special effects button, and now you have to look at some more of them.  Here ya go.

He’s pretty cute, so that makes up for it.

Meanwhile, I’ve been moving in furniture that has been handed down to me (thanks, Mom!) and fits my home perfectly, prepping to open up the Sewing Buddy 2012 sign-ups, and doing some editing work on the new book.  Kitchen?  Languishing a bit, but I’m hoping we can at least get some drawers in this week–I’ll let you know how it goes.

Oh!  And I still have spaces in the Essential Sewing e-course starting Monday!

Just in case you were wondering – that’s a female cardinal. Personally I love the females for their more subtle coloring, but still with some of the distinctive red showing through. No where near as showy as the brilliant red males.

He’s a she! And she’s lovely, we don’t have cardinals here and I miss them from 4 years in Wisconsin.

So excited that you’re doing sewing buddies again this year! Last year I had just started sewing, so I didn’t want to sign up, but this year I’m totally up for it! 🙂

i dont really know what to expect from sewing buddies. maybe a former participant could write a testimonial- touting the benefits of buddyship. I am just wondering what kinds of things these buddies end up doing and how involved it may or may not get
    thanks

another interesting tidbit about cardinals is that they don’t fly from the cold. and that they move around a lot in that they lay eggs, babies hatch & 10 days later find a new nest to start the cycle all over. I miss seeing cardinals…

OK, first of all, who knew so many of you knew so much about birds?? Second of all, that’s a female?? How cool! Third, we also have a male, whom I tend to see in the mornings hopping around the deck, just below the crepe myrtle where I saw this little lady. Am I crazy to imagine that I heard they’re a threatened species? Or was that blue jays? Anyway, thanks for all the info–I’ll be paying much closer attention now!
